Joel West - Big winner with young kids
Pros: Teaches real music, engages kids
Cons: Characters are a bit politically correct, minimizing actual role of dead white guys in classical music.
My 7-year-old has been interested in music for a while, including making noises on our piano. Seeking to engage that interest, we bought
this at the Apple Store.
The tutorial approach makes no assumptions, reinforces every step, and has both a sound and engaging approach. The
self-paced tutorials (with opportunities for supervised practice and games) requires little supervision to impart basic keyboard
skills, rhythm, and simple ear training.
Our child is enthusiastic and has to be pried away from the keyboard to read, go swimming or go to bed.
Perhaps the 25 lessons will last "one year" in a classroom setting but we will finish the whole software
in two summer months and be looking to buy the Level II.
Janet Dowsett - Yamaha Club Magazine
I found it all very appealing and, although I do have a four year old to try it out on, I enjoyed pretending to be a four again as I worked
my way through the program! I bet that a lot of youngsters will enjoy using the program, without really realizing they are having
‘music lessons’. Seriously, if I did have a young child in the house, this CD-ROM would be installed on our computer pronto!

Damian Llopis - Notes on Children's Music Journey
Once you see a 5-year old using Children's Music Journey, it's not hard to imagine that this animated, narrated interactive software
could help any child become very enthusiastic about music and about learning to play the piano. The bright, cheerful composers and performers
help young children absorb these ideas at a pace controlled by the child.
